Forty Days of D

The combo of realizing that i need to be doing more creativity related stuff + that life here is different and pretty great and would make a good series of subjects + and that there were forty days left in the year at that particular moment.

I took a photo everyday for the last forty days of the year.
Forty Days of D stands for Forty Days of Don't Forget.

ONE
JUAN + TAMAD
Miggy and me were supposed to meet up downtown to go sweater shopping. But the thought of actually having to try clothes on was exhausting all on it's own. We browsed books instead. This is a photo of a book i bought for myself, taken on the BArt ride home.
This is the first photo: Juan and Tamad.

TWO
ISABELA
I met Isabella for the first time this weekend. The expression of complete and utter bewilderment did not leave my face for the next 24 hours that followed.

THREE
IT HAD TO BE ME
Oh hey. So i forgot my deodorant and had to get up early to buy some at Trader Joe's the next day...

FOUR
FALL ON MY STREET
Here's where I start to run out of ideas. But in fairness, the trees on my street are pretty.

FIVE
Another soup day at school. Made shrimp bisque.

SIX
ANG MAG ASAWA
Long Thanksgiving weekend over at the Canteras'. Thus begins my life as a happy squatter.
Spent Thanksgiving eve stuck in traffic with a full bladder, and then baking up a storm with Tito Manny and Tita Dang til almost morning.

SEVEN
THANKS FOR NOT GIVING
More major league baking, and a Harry Potter-a-thon later that night.

EIGHT
BLACK FRIDAY
And instead of preparing for Black Friday battle, we decided to spend the day after Thanksgiving at IKEA. THE HAPPIEST, BEST, NON-DISNEYLAND PLACE EVER.
I made a lot of growd up purchases such as a stuffed shark, fox, and dragon. Also cups.

NINE
First time Christmas tree shopping! + wandering Rockridge while enjoying darjeeling cherry ice cream from Ici. What I would do for more of that ice cream.

TEN
BREAKING BAD
Horrible decision to take an ugly selfie of my afternoon recovery slumber party with special guests Jake and Baba the lumpy land shark.

ELEVEN
SWEATER WEATHER
It started getting really, really cold out this week. So I bought a bunch of large sweaters.

TWELVE
Work in Progress Charlie Brown Christmas tree with tiny baby dragon and magazine paper cranes.

THIRTEEN
ABOUT THE D
While your two best bets might've been "Diarrhea" or "Dicks",what it really stands for is "Don't forget".
You perverts.

FOURTEEN
An ugly photo of a thoughtful letter someone left on my windshield.

FIFTEEN
NOT SO SILENT NIGHT
Starting the weekend right with Queens of the Stone age, Vampire Weekend, and KINGS OF FUCKING LEON. Worth freezing and getting rained on.

SIXTEEN
TOO YOUNG
Zoe and Noelle ultimate bonding experience! With special guests Lorde, Arcade Fire, and the Parisian loves of my life, Phoenix!

SEVENTEEN
KID IN A CANDY STORE
So Zoe took me to Powell's Sweet shoppe today.

EIGHTEEN
I present to you the cutest, littlest tortellini. Pasta day at school.

NINETEEN
All of this, with the exception of the gum, came in the mail today. I am a happy kid.

TWENTY
CREATIVE JUICES
Thought today would be a good day to try to go back to painting and drawing and writing.
(There were definitely better photos from today. But i chose this one for censorship reasons...did not think that through.)

TWENTY ONE
COOKIES
Killed my maaad craving for sweets by making flourless peanut butter-chocolate chip cookies.

TWENTY TWO
FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH
Tonight was opening night at the Berkeley Ballet Theatre. I got to watch Zoe dance for the very first time, eat pizza and bread sticks on Shattuck, and listen to Tito George tell us about how San Francisco is magical city. Unfortunately, all i have is this crappy photo i took seconds before getting back into the car and driving back to the Canteras' house.

TWENTY THREE
BALLET, BALLET, BALLET
Spent the entire day with Tita Dang, watching all three of Zoe's performances.

TWENTY FOUR
BRUNCH
Brunch at Rockridge cafe. Waaay too many potatoes in this scramble.

TWENTY FIVE
OAKLAND ADVENTURE
Sean came to see me today at school, and in return i took him and Dylan to Zach's for what i still think is the best slice of pizza in the Bay Area. Yeah. They think I'm crazy for thinking Oakland is beautiful. But they liked the pizza, so we're all good.

TWENTY SIX
LOVE CLUB
A night at the theater. Tristan and Yseult by Berkeley Rep.

TWENTY SEVEN
BE ITALIAN
Italian at Trattoria with Tito Manny, Tita Dang and Zoe. All this picture-taking is affecting all our meals.

TWENTY EIGHT
THINGS GIRLS LIKE
Spent the day running errands with Tita Dang for Zoe's show the next day. Shopping, Mexican food on 5th st, and Hoarding flowers; things girls love.

TWENTY NINE
NIGHTS LIKE THIS/ DUGYOT
Last day of school for the term. Miggy took me, Zoe, Miles, and his sister Trish for a midnight drive all around the city. I chose my city well.
Bob and me got into a dugyot (it means derp) contest over the week. This was the winning entry.
There should be more nights like these.

THIRTY
MORNINGS LIKE THIS
I got sick the next morning. The combination of exhausting kitchen finals, freezing cold Treasure Island weather, and getting home at almost 3am? I had it coming. But woke up and drove Zoe, Miles and Trish to Philz on Shattuck the next morning anyway. Why? Cause. I'm nice, and they're really cute when they're happy together. If there should be more nights like last night, then there should be more mornings like these. Also there were morning buns from La Farine.

THIRTY ONE
DEAREST HUMAN
This Karina with Kuya, her dearest human.
And so sets in extreme holiday homesickness.

THIRTY TWO
CITY LOVE
Miles' and Trish's last day in the Bay Area. Decided to be the official photographer for Zoe and Miles' city sweetness.
Expectations.
Reality.

THIRTY THREE
CHRISTMAS EVE
Highlights from my first Cal Christmas.
Super burritos with Uncle Jon, and a blind box-a-thon til dawn with the Canterases. And to all a good night!

THIRTY FOUR
CHRISTMAS DEMON
Christmas morning. Dragon inspecting all our Dunnies from last night's blind box-a-thon. We planned to have dim sum for lunch but ended up at Denny's.

THIRTY FIVE
LUNCH DATE
Lunch with Tito Manny before heading home. Constant conversations over curry udon and grilled salmon.

THIRTY SIX
EVERYDAY ITALIAN
Running errands at Target and Tita Dang's carbonara when we got back.

THIRTY SEVEN
ICE KING
Night skating at Embarcadero.
Not a lot can beat that.

THIRTY EIGHT
PICTURE BOOKS
Sundays and art supply stores go together. They just do.

THIRTY NINE
Lemon Cream Tarts.

FORTY
SEASON OF LOVE
The Polaroids from New Year's eve. Not a lot of us remember the sequence of evening's events in detail. I totally remember everyone singing seasons of love though...like four times. And I'm cool with it. Nothing wrong with that.
